What happens when we drink alcohol in terms of our body goals? I'm going to try to sum up a 30-min topic into just a quick email. There's a lot that goes on with our bodies when we drink alcohol, but here are some key points to remember ⤵️

1). Alcohol has 7kcals/gram (Fat has 9kcals/gram, protein and carbs both have 4 kcals/gram)

2). Alcohol becomes a toxin in your body, which means it becomes your body's first energy source. In switching to the first energy source means it starts to blunt fat loss.

-> Blunted fat loss means blunted metabolism, lowering glucose.

--> Lower glucose means lower strength and faster fatigue.

---> Alcohol is also a diuretic and usually leaves us being dehydrated, which leads to poor performance in the gym.

----> Lower strength, faster fatigue and the increased dehydration leads to a further decreased performance in the gym.

-----> Testosterone and protein synthesis then also lowers when drinking alcohol, which leads to further decreased performance, strength and overall muscle mass.

3.) Another main issue with drinking is it also leads to having lower inhibitions and where that leads us MOST of the time is usually not a good place. AKA, when we've had a few drinks we're more likely to 'treat ourselves' to the extra high calorie goodies, and also have more and more drinks. So, Is it possible to drink and still look good ??

In short for this one, the answer is 'yes', but you better be trying to maintain. It’s very difficult and rare for someone to get to their goals while drinking for several reasons. Like most things in life, you got to sacrifice for a little... Then it’s a lot easier to maintain. Lastly... I do drink myself here and there for the people who ask me about that. It’s not often because I do see a significant difference in the way I look for almost a week afterwards and I’m always on camera doing stuff so I feel like it messes up my work life. However, I do enjoy it from time to time and whenever the time is right, I like to get after it with my friends.

Here’s a few tips for when you do drink ⤵️ 1.) Eat before you go out! That way you don’t eat a bunch of BS. A lot of people do the opposite and then you’re drunk and... F+^% everything... And you’re eating fried chicken.. 2.) Drink water between your drinks so you can lower the dehydration for tomorrow. 3.) Stay away from the mixed stuff that has a ton of sugar in it. My personal go-to is tequila, soda water, and a lime 👌🏼 4.) If you do food track, leave a good amount of calories left for you to splurge on the night so at least you don't go too far over your total cals for the day..
